The thin slab continuous casting production line of the steelmaking division of Tongsteel recently successfully produced 2,800 tons of SPA-H container plate steel. After strict quality inspection, the quality and performance of this batch of products met the order agreement standards. 

SPA-H container plate steel is famous for its high strength and excellent weather resistance. Considering its huge market potential and high added value, Tongsteel has listed it as a key research project for new product development. The latest product development department, steelmaking division, and other departments have worked closely together to integrate research, production, and sales to ensure the smooth progress of the project.

During the production process, the new product development department and the steelmaking division organized professional and technical personnel to track the whole process. Starting from the key process control points of the whole process, they accurately controlled various parameters and successfully solved many technical problems, ensuring the smooth progress of the production process and stable product quality. In terms of chemical composition control, the new product development department optimized the alloy addition ratio and formulated strict parameter requirements. The Steelmaking Division confirmed the special alloys item by item to ensure that the chemical composition reached the target value. In terms of equipment accuracy, the Steelmaking Division carefully checked the status of equipment such as crystallizers and fan-shaped segments, and replaced the equipment in time according to the requirements of steel passing to ensure that the equipment accuracy met the standards throughout the rolling cycle. In terms of temperature control, the Steelmaking Division strictly controlled the end carbon and temperature as required, and accurately controlled key parameters such as constant pulling speed, secondary cooling water, and taper. At the same time, the heating furnace was organized to heat up in advance, the performance of protective slag was optimized, and the temperature of the steel material met the specified requirements. In terms of surface quality control, the Steelmaking Division conducted simulated rolling experiments and optimized the secondary model pressure distribution system. At the same time, during each secondary rod interval, the company arranged for professionals to check and confirm and required them to replace the coiling side guide in time to ensure that the surface quality of the product meets customer requirements.

After strict testing, the tensile strength and other key indicators of this batch of SPA-H container plate steel all met the technical requirements and had good surface quality.

The successful production of SPA-H container plate steel not only laid the foundation for Tongsteel to explore blue ocean products but also injected new impetus for the company to further expand the market and enhance its brand influence.
