On May 9, the completion ceremony of the carbon reduction and pollution reduction upgrade project of the non-oriented silicon steel annealing furnace of Baotou Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. Rare Earth Steel Cold Rolled Plate Plant was held. This project is a concrete practice for Baotou Steel to actively respond to the call for green, low-carbon, and high-quality development of the steel industry, optimize the adjustment of variety structure, and accelerate the cultivation of new productivity. It is of great significance to help develop Baotou Steel's characteristic silicon steel products.

Currently, my country's new energy industry is experiencing explosive growth. Non-oriented silicon steel has become an ideal iron core material due to its good soft magnetic properties and processing properties. With the upgrading of national energy efficiency standards, the market demand for high-grade non-oriented silicon steel has skyrocketed. Baotou Steel Co., Ltd. has seized the opportunity to upgrade the non-oriented silicon steel production line with the purpose of producing lower iron loss, higher grade, and profitability stronger silicon steel products. After the transformation, the production line has the production capacity of medium and high grades of non-oriented silicon steel and non-oriented silicon steel for new energy vehicles, while improving the production efficiency and product quality of medium and low-grade non-oriented silicon steel. Simultaneous technical transformation of the annealing furnace and drying furnace combustion system uses green low-nitrogen energy-saving combustion technology to control the generation of nitrogen oxides from the source, achieve stable emission standards, ensure the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions throughout the life cycle of the downstream industry chain, and contribute to the green development of the steel industry provide more "Baogang Plan".
It is reported that the project construction took more than 200 days, and the goals of oven, test run, and coil unloading were successfully achieved, and it has officially entered the mass production stage. The commissioning of this project is of great significance for Baotou Steel Co., Ltd. to adjust, optimize and upgrade its product structure, improve the production efficiency of non-oriented silicon steel for new energy vehicles and product market competitiveness. Injecting strong impetus into the full implementation of Baotou Steel Group’s strategy of “High-Quality and Fine Steel Series Rare Earth Steel” and becoming the main force in the construction of “Two Rare Earth Bases”.
After the ceremony, the participants also visited the renovated non-oriented silicon steel production line.
