Recently, the 1450 hot rolling production line of the Pangang Vanadium Plate Plant has successfully rolled out IF steel with an extremely thin gauge of 2.0 mm.
IF steel has excellent forming properties and is widely used in the fields of automobile and home appliance manufacturing. However, due to its soft quality and higher final rolling temperature than ordinary low-carbon aluminum series steel, it is easy to deviate and break during the rolling process, and the plate shape is difficult to control. In particular, 2.0 mm thick IF steel is an extremely thin specification, which has very high requirements for temperature system, equipment accuracy, control response, etc., and is more difficult to roll.
Previously, the thickness of IF steel rolled by the plate mill was generally limited to 2.75 mm. The IF steel produced this time is 2.0 mm thick and 1203 mm wide, and is hot-dip galvanized steel for automobile manufacturing. The successful trial rolling of this specification marks that the plant has broken through the previous specification limit of IF steel, providing strong support for Pangang to achieve full coverage of hot-dip galvanized series products.
To ensure the successful rolling of the product, the plant, with the support of relevant units of Panzhihua Vanadium, formulated a detailed production plan, key points of various process technology operations, and quality assurance measures based on the product characteristics. During production, various professional and technical personnel tracked the entire process and coordinated and solved problems that occurred in production in a timely manner, ensuring the successful rolling of 2.0 mm thin gauge IF steel.
Since the beginning of this year, the plant has strengthened market research, understood user needs, and continuously strengthened research on rolling process technology. As of the end of May, the plant's 1450 hot rolling production line has developed a total of 7 new products, including photovoltaic bracket steel and 2.0 mm thin gauge IF steel.
