Recently, the first train of the new car-building project for the Shanghai Municipal Railway Airport Link Line, supplied by Maanshan Steel for all city EMU wheels, officially arrived at the temporary vehicle maintenance base on Shenkun Road and was received. The vehicle commissioning will begin in the next stage. The first section (Hongqiao Station-Pudong Airport Station) is expected to be put into operation at the end of 2024. By then, Maanshan Steel Wheels will accompany the Shanghai Municipal Railway-Airport Connection Line and run through the east-west transportation hub, connecting two airports (Hongqiao Airport and Pudong Airport) and two stations (Hongqiao Railway Station and Shanghai East Railway Station), providing citizens with richer travel methods and convenient and efficient transportation life.
It is reported that the EMU wheels used in the city's railway-airport connection line are mounted on a city C-type train for the first time. This train is also the most advanced city EMU vehicle in the country, with a maximum operating speed of 160 kilometers per hour, and is safe, comfortable, and emergency stopping. It realizes the combination of high-speed rail technology and rail transit application mode and has broad application prospects in municipal railway projects in the Yangtze River Delta and even across the country.
When Maanshan Steel received the order for this project, it attached great importance to it. In order to improve the application and service level of the wheels, based on the successful experience in the production of urban train wheels, Maanshan Steel Material Technology Center and the Customer Technology Department optimized the wheel material and performance indicators, relevant requirements, time nodes, from the selection of raw materials to the scheduling, processing, and inspection of each process, relevant requirements, time nodes, and process tracking are formulated. Every position strives for excellence, and the first batch of wheels was delivered with high standards and strict requirements in August 2023. , shortening the vehicle delivery time, providing a strong guarantee for the formal operation of the line, and once again contributing "Masteel's wisdom" to the development of China's rail transit.
