Currently, as global energy consumption intensifies, the exploitation of oil and gas and other energy sources has extended to areas with harsh environments such as the polar regions, permafrost, deep sea, and deserts. Therefore, long-distance oil and gas pipeline projects have put forward higher requirements for pipeline steel quality standards. Ground external pipelines and marine riser pipelines in these areas are exposed to the natural environment and have to withstand extremely low service temperatures, so the requirements for low-temperature toughness indicators of pipeline steel pipes are very stringent. Since the beginning of this year, the scientific research team of Baogang has worked with production units and sales companies to conduct in-depth market research and learned that a user in Liaoning Province needs a batch of low-temperature pipeline steel L290M and L360M that can adapt to the impact performance of minus 35 degrees Celsius and minus 30 degrees Celsius. The hot-rolled plate R&D personnel of the technology center successfully developed extremely low-temperature resistant pipeline steel through low-C, Nb, and Ti composite economical product design strategies, and combined with 2250 mm hot-rolling production line technicians through controlled rolling and controlled cooling technologies. The performance of the -35 degree Celsius drop hammer and -30 degree Celsius impact fully meets the standard requirements, and 1,000 tons of low-temperature resistant pipeline steel coils have been successfully completed and delivered according to the contract requirements.
