Baogang relies on the rare earth resource characteristics, gives full play to the role of rare earth in purifying steel, improving corrosion resistance and low-temperature toughness, and continuously increases the research and development of rare earth steel to enhance the core competitiveness of enterprise products with new quality productivity. Recently, Baogang developed rare earth hot-rolled 350B steel, which was successfully applied to the domestic railway boxcar upgrade and transformation project.

Based on the original steel products, the corrosion resistance and low-temperature toughness of rare earth hot-rolled 350B steel can be further improved by adding rare earth alloys. At the same time, in combination with the need for railway boxcar upgrade and transformation, Baogang Technology Center and rail beam factory and other units responded quickly, redesigned the hole type, used the existing rollers and guides, and after multiple rolling adjustments, shortened the development cycle of 350B steel. According to research, although the height of 350B steel has only increased by 40 mm compared with 310B steel, the size of the improved finished product has reached the equipment rolling limit, and the production difficulty has increased significantly. The rail beam factory has gone through three industrial trials and has been constantly exploring and striving for excellence during the debugging process to ensure that the length and surface quality of the finished product 350 B-shaped steel produced by R&D meet the needs of users and have comprehensive mechanical properties, atmospheric corrosion resistance and welding performance.

Rare earth-hot-rolled 350 B-shaped steel is mainly used in railway boxcar beams. The annual demand for railway boxcar upgrades is about 8,000 tons. The mass production of Baogang rare earth-hot-rolled 350 B-shaped steel can effectively help improve the quality of railway freight.
