The main difference between precision-rolled rebar and ordinary rebar is the different strength and chemical composition of the steel bar.
Finish-rolled rebar is prestressed steel and has higher strength than ordinary rebar. Threaded steel bars for prestressed concrete are large-diameter, high-strength, high-dimensional precision straight steel bars with external threads rolled on the entire steel bar. The steel bars are screwed onto connectors with internal threads at any section for connection or threaded nuts for anchoring. Rebar is the common name for hot-rolled ribbed steel bars. The grade of ordinary hot-rolled steel bars consists of HRB and the minimum yield point of the grade. H, R, and B are the first letters of the words Hotrolled, Ribbed, and Bars respectively.
The yield-strength ratio of fine-rolled rebar is about 0.9; while the yield-strength ratio of ordinary rebar is about 0.6. The elongation of the former is about 10%, and that of the latter is about 30%. Therefore, the former is widely used in vertical bars of prestressed beams and slabs and multi-directional prestressed bars of high-speed rail; while ordinary threaded steel bars can only play a supporting role.
