The difference between high wire rod and ordinary wire mainly lies in their characteristics, properties, and applications. High wire rod, often referred to as high-carbon wire rod, is made from high-quality steel with a higher carbon content compared to ordinary wire rod. This higher carbon content makes it stronger and more durable. Ordinary wire rod, also known as mild steel wire rod, is made from lower carbon steel. It is less strong and less durable compared to high wire rod. High wire rod is known for its high tensile strength, which means it can withstand higher loads and is more resistant to deformation or breakage. Ordinary wire rod has lower tensile strength and is more malleable. High wire rod is used in applications that require high strength, such as manufacturing of automotive suspension springs, piano wires, and wire ropes. Ordinary wire rod is used for a wide range of everyday applications, including construction, fencing, wire mesh, and common household items like coat hangers.

Wire rods are divided into two types: rebar and coiled steel. Some of the coils are divided into high-speed wire rods (high-speed wire rods) and ordinary wire rods (plain wire rods) according to different rolling mills. High-speed wire rod refers to wire-made steel rolled by high-speed rolling mill.

The high-speed wire is rolled on a high-speed wire rod mill, with a fast production pace and large coils (the coil in the package is usually a whole piece, and the maximum coil weight can reach 2500kg). The packaging of high-end products is usually tighter and more beautiful. High wire refers to wire rod rolled with a high-speed twist-free rolling mill. The rolling speed is 80-160 m/s, the weight of each rod (disk) is 1.8-2.5 tons, and the dimensional tolerance accuracy is high (up to 0.02mm). The process parameters can be adjusted during the rolling process (especially in the cooling line above) to ensure the different requirements of the product. General wire refers to wire rods rolled by ordinary rolling mills (usually parallel double rolling mills). The rolling speed is 20-60 meters/second, and the weight of each rod (coil) is 0.4-0.6 tons (usually three rods and six heads are seen on the market as one large disk). During the rolling process, it can be cooled by air on the cooling line or air cooling to ensure product performance. The packaging of ordinary lines is relatively loose and messy.
