The hardenability of mold steel has a significant impact on the quenching of mold steel. The so-called hardenability refers to the ability of mold steel to obtain a martensite structure during quenching. We usually measure it by the hardening depth from the surface to the semi-martensite region in the center hardenability of mold steel. For mold steel with high hardenability, under the premise of ensuring quenching, using a lower cooling rate cooling medium can greatly reduce quenching stress and quenching deformation, so that the mold will have higher dimensional accuracy. For mold steel with low hardenability, due to the use of the higher cooling medium, the quenching stress will be increased, the mold quenching deformation will be increased, the size will be difficult to guarantee, and there is a risk of quenching cracks.
