1. Mechanical straightening technology
Hammering and pressing are the main mechanical corrections for welding deformation. Mechanical straightening involves the use of force, using a hammer, wedge, pneumatic hammer, machine press or similar instrument, to push the distorted area flat.
2. Thermal correction technology
With thermal correction, heat creates local stress high enough to restore the part to its original shape when it cools. This technology, also known as flame straightening, is suitable for the following methods:
Spot heating: This technology eliminates buckling in thin plate structures. Distortion is corrected by spot heating of convex surfaces. Many small spots are much more effective than just a few large spots.
Line heating: Heating the part in a straight line along the weld joint opposite the weld can often correct angular deformation.
Wedge heating: Heating a wedge to correct deformation in large and complex manufacturing.
