Quickly differentiate between the two. There are three differences between ordinary carbon steel and low alloy steel:
They have different uses:
1. Uses of ordinary carbon steel: This type of steel has a very wide range of applications, most of which are used as welded, riveted, or bolted steel structural parts, and a few are used to make various machine parts.
2. Uses of low alloy steel: Low alloy steel has been widely used in the manufacturing of engineering machinery, ships, bridges, high-rise buildings, boilers and pressure vessels, electric power, and various vehicles.
The characteristics of the two are different:
1. Characteristics of ordinary carbon steel: Compared with high-quality carbon steel, there are wider restrictions on carbon content, performance range, and content of phosphorus, sulfur, and other residual elements.
2. Characteristics of low alloy steel: This kind of steel has relatively high strength, relatively good comprehensive properties, and has corrosion resistance, wear resistance, low-temperature resistance, and good cutting performance and welding performance.
The overviews of the two are different:
1. Overview of ordinary carbon steel: Ordinary carbon steel is the abbreviation of ordinary carbon structural steel. The carbon content is less than 0.38%, and less than 0.25% is the most commonly used. It belongs to low-carbon steel, and each metal grade indicates the lowest yield point of the steel type when the thickness is less than 16mm.
2. Overview of low alloy steel: Low alloy steel refers to alloy steel with a total alloying element content of less than 5%. Low alloy steel is relative to carbon steel. On the basis of carbon steel, one or several alloying elements are intentionally added to the steel in order to improve the properties of the steel.
