Firstly, to avoid physical damage and collisions during transport of cold rolled steel strip, the consignor will use appropriate packaging materials such as wooden crates, steel straps, shock absorbing pads etc. to protect the surface from scrapes, impacts and crushing. Secondly, to avoid exposure of the cold rolled steel strip to rain, high humidity or direct contact with moisture. The consignor will take appropriate moisture protection measures, including the use of moisture resistant packaging materials, the addition of moisture inhibitors and keeping storage areas dry, to protect the steel sheets. Finally, to avoid denting or distorting the surface of the cold rolled steel strip due to excessive pressure from stacking or piling, the consignor will lay the cold rolled steel strip flat and use suitable supports to ensure that the surface of the plate remains flat. Most importantly the cold rolled steel strip needs to be regularly inspected and promptly cleaned of contaminants from the surface of the cold rolled strip.
