The American ASTM standard (ASTM A36/A36M) belongs to the American standard carbon steel plate, which is equivalent to the domestic Q235.

Chemical composition of A36 steel plate:
The chemical composition of the ASTM A36 steel plate is strictly by the provisions of the American ASTM standard, mainly including the following elements:
Carbon (C): ≤0.25%
Silicon (Si): ≤0.40%
Manganese (Mn): 0.80%~1.20%
Phosphorus (P): ≤0.04%
Sulfur (S): ≤0.05%
Copper (Cu): When copper-containing steel is specified, the content of copper (Cu) should be ≥0.20%, but usually ≤0.2%.

The mechanical properties mainly include:
Yield strength: ≥250MPa (some data show that it can reach 360MPa and may decrease with the increase of material thickness).
Tensile strength: 400MPa~550MPa.
Elongation after fracture: ≥20%.
Impact toughness: A36 steel plate also has good impact toughness and can resist impact loads at low temperatures without brittle fracture.
Density: about 7.85g/cm³, which is the general density value of steel.
Thermal expansion coefficient: increases with increasing temperature, and the specific value depends on the temperature range.
Thermal conductivity: A36 steel plate has good thermal conductivity and can quickly transfer heat.
