Z shaped steel

Z-shaped steel is a common cold-formed thin-walled steel, the thickness is generally between 1.6-3.0mm, and the section height is mostly between 120-350mm. The processing material is hot rolled (painted), galvanized. The processing standard shall be implemented according to GB50018-2002. Z-shaped steel is usually used in large steel structure workshops. The processing length and hole are produced according to processing requirements.

Features and advantages of Z-shaped steel:

Chinese standard:

General requirements of cold forming steel sections
This standard specifies the ordering content, classification and code, size, shape, weight and allowable deviations, technical requirements, test methods, acceptance rules, packaging, marking and quality certificates of cold-formed steel. This standard applies to cold-formed cold-rolled, hot-rolled or coated (coated) steel plates and strips produced on continuous roller cold bending units.

British Standard:

BS EN 10025-2 is a standard published by the European Committee for Standardization covering technical delivery conditions for hot rolled non-alloy structural steels.

American standard:

Z-shaped steel is usually specified according to ASTM A6/A6M standard, which covers general hot-rolled structural steel technical specifications, which includes Z-shaped members.

Japanese standard:

Z-shaped steel is usually specified according to JIS G 3192 standard. JIS G 3192 specifies requirements for dimensions, mass, shape, weight, and tolerances of various materials such as hot-rolled stainless steel, aluminum, and steel, including Z-shaped members.

The wall thickness of cold-formed thin-walled steel structural members should not be greater than 6mm, nor should it be less than 1.5mm (except for profiled steel plates), and the wall thickness of main load-bearing structural members should not be less than 2mm.

Length and tolerance

Section steel usually has a length of 4 000 mm to 16 000 mm. After being specified in the contract by both the supplier and the buyer, section steel with a length exceeding the above specified length can also be supplied.

When the section steel is delivered according to the fixed length or multiple length, it shall be indicated in the contract.  If the fixed length accuracy is not specified in the contract, it shall be delivered in ordinary fixed length.

Length tolerance

The bending degree of section steel should not be greater than 2 mm per meter, and the total bending degree should not be greater than 0.2% of the total length.
The concavity and convexity of the flat part of the section steel shall not exceed 0.6% of the side length, but shall be at least 0.4 mm.
