On April 3, Guangxi Steel Plant's No. 3 slab continuous casting machine successfully rolled off the production line of 400mm thick slabs, which is the thickest slab currently produced and fills the gap in Guangxi's products of this specification. After testing, the quality of the slabs produced meets the requirements, and all indicators meet the standards. This will further promote the optimization of product structure and help Liuzhou Steel Group achieve new breakthroughs in the high-end development of its products.
The production of 400mm thick slabs faced multiple technical challenges, such as zero experience in large-section transformation, difficulty in spare parts management, strict quality requirements, and also required high overall coordination of production. To this end, the steel mill held a special meeting in advance to discuss the optimization of production plans, concentrate on completing the debugging of 7 key equipment systems and optimizing 4 core process parameters, and establish a full-process quality control system, taking multiple measures to ensure successful production.
At the same time, in the production and use of refractory materials, the use of long-life submerged downcomers combined with slag line technology has increased the service life of the tundish in the production of ordinary carbon steel and high carbon steel by 36.4% and 35.7% respectively, which not only reduces production costs, but also ensures efficient and continuous production of 400mm thick slabs.
At present, the No. 3 slab continuous casting machine of the steel plant has achieved the production of 300mm, 350mm, and 400mm thick plates, with the product structure being continuously optimized and the production capacity being continuously enhanced. This production breakthrough will further enhance the production capacity of the steel plant and provide strong support for Liuzhou Iron and Steel Group to optimize its product structure and expand the high-end plate market.
In March, the production line's wide and thick plate output increased by 13.6% month-on-month, setting a record high. At the same time, key quality indicators such as low-power inspection pass rate and post-rolling defect rate all maintained a good level.
