At 12:18 noon on October 8, the first roll of 5mm diameter cord wire rod was successfully rolled and rolled down in the high-speed wire unit of the first smelting and rolling operation department of Anyang Base. After quality inspection, the product's dimensional accuracy reached C level or above, indicating that Anyang Base has the industry-leading "extreme specification" high-speed wire product mass production capacity.
It is understood that the specifications of domestic high-speed wire products are generally 5.5 mm to 25 mm in diameter. The 5 mm diameter wire products have extremely high requirements for equipment accuracy, rolling process, cooling control technology, and operating level. At present, there are only a handful of domestic companies that can produce 5 mm diameter wire.
The Anyang base high-speed wire unit is equipped with 4 Morgan sixth-generation independent transmission flexible sizing mills, and the design production specifications are 5.5 mm to 20 mm diameter smooth wire and 6 mm to 12 mm diameter threaded steel wire. In 2018, the operation department successfully developed a 22 mm diameter wire rod independently, which was recognized by the market. The 5 mm diameter wire product rolled this time also exceeded the product outline range.
In order to break through the product specification restrictions as soon as possible and improve competitiveness, the operation department established a 5 mm diameter high-speed wire product research and development team to tackle key problems from multiple aspects such as process route design, equipment accuracy assurance, and rolling technology innovation. According to the current status of high-speed wire equipment, the roller hole parameters of 5 mm diameter products were independently designed, the speed ratio of the sizing mill was set, the rolling program table was arranged, and a complete set of rolling control parameter systems was calculated. At the same time, personnel were organized to carry out in-depth maintenance and adjustments to the main equipment of the entire line, and key equipment such as special spinning tubes were replaced. In order to reduce rolling costs, technicians also re-planned the material type from intermediate rolling to finishing rolling mills to achieve hole sharing and reduce the use of new rollers. During rolling, managers at all levels kept a close eye on the site and conducted real-time monitoring and adjustment of key control parameters to ensure that the size of the first steel reached C-level accuracy.
The successful rolling of the 5mm diameter wire rod has opened up a new era of high-speed wire products at the Anyang base. It also tested the accuracy and control capabilities of high-speed wire equipment and provided technical reserves for the transformation of special steel.
